Pick your poison: Open borders OR the Welfare State? You CAN'T have BOTH.

The death of conservatism came when we stopped fighting to abolish the welfare state and started fighting to keep the Mexicans out of "our" welfare state.

Along with far left whackos like Ronald Reagan that wanted to talk to the Russians instead of nuking them.

Good points, beamish. But one can hardly expect people who have spent their entire lives forcibly "paying in" to the existing welfare Ponzi scheme to all of a sudden elect to jetison the program the minute that they are set to finally "collect". I personally have contributed the max amount for most of my working 41 years (16%+) to Social Security. It's not my fault that the govies spent it all on lawyers for illegal Mexican kids. My votes were only successful in electing RR and GHWB. Blame me for those two Leftist a-holes. I wasn't around in the 30's/40's when the Ponzi scheme was started.

errata - 'being forced to pay in' for 'forcibly "paying in"' above.
